The player, released from jail in July after serving 74 days of a six-month sentence for another assault, spends up to eight hours a week piling rubbish in skips at the centre in Prudhoe, Northumberland.

He was given 200 hours community service and a suspended jail stretch for battering team-mate Ousmane Dabo unconscious at a training ground when both were at Manchester City.

A Probation Service source said other yobs were “stunned” when 26-year-old Barton joined them.

The father of Manchester United and former Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov was allegedly jailed for two years after being convicted for his his part in a gang rape.

Ivan Berbatov, who like his son was a professional footballer, took part in a football team “roasting” of a Norwegian girl, according to The Sun.

The incident occurred when Dimitar was only 18 months old, and he was subsequently raised only by his mother during his infant years
