Just one glance should terrify former soccer golden boy Gazza as he battles his booze demons in rehab.

For Higgins is 59 years old, but looks 80. His face is deeply lined, gaunt and drawn.

His body is so skeletal the man they called the Hurricane now looks like he’d blow over in a light breeze.

Years of boozing and smoking have taken their toll, and Higgins fears Gazza, 42, is heading the same way.

“I see him going down exactly the same road as me and George Best and he’ll end up self-destructing and dying like Bestie. I believe Gascoigne drinks cider, which is the road to hell,” said Alex, who has battled cancer of the throat and palate.

Gazza was sectioned for a third time under the Mental Health Act this month after a drunken incident at a London hairdressers.

This week he was pictured on a trip out of rehab at the Priory kissing ex-wife Sheryl, which has led to hopes he can sort himself out with her help.

But Higgins—world champion in 1972 and 1982—fears if he doesn’t, he’ll be DEAD in five years.

He said: “I’ve been through most of what he’s going through and if he doesn’t sort himself out he’ll end up being arrested for doing something crazy—or dead.”

And Higgins says he knows the pain Gazza is going through because he reached such lows himself, even becoming suicidal at times
