There were 62 arrests at Forest matches last season - almost twice as many as the previous season.

Millwall was in second place in the league with 57 arrests.

Forest safety officer Alan Bexon said the figures are high because the team attracts more fans than any other club in the league.

The club gets 20,000 fans on average for each game while other teams only have 12,000 fans per game, he said.

"All our games are attended by police. Other clubs such as Northampton do not have a police presence so it is unlikely to have arrests at their games."

He said some fans were stopped from entering the grounds because they were drunk.

A special text line has been set up to allow football supporters to alert stewards about any trouble at games.

Fans are asked to text the word 'Forest' and 60066 to alert stewards of any trouble.

The Premiership club with the most fans arrested was Manchester United with 195.

The Home Office said there was an 8% increase in all football-related arrests in the UK last year, reflecting a tougher police approach to anti-social and disorderly behaviour at matches.
